Jaxson: Coxsackie Virus

Don't worry, I've never heard of it either! Jaxson has been extremely snotty since about Wednesday and fussy at night. I was hoping it was teething but of course that isn't our luck. He threw up Thursday night and when he started running fever Friday I thought for sure he had strep from Brody. I called at 3:45 hoping we could get squeezed in as he was running 103.2 but they were all booked. So I made the first appt for the Saturday clinic and began alternating Motrin and Tylenol to keep his fever down. He was doing ok, running between 100-101 until about 3:30 am when he began having the dry heaves and shivers. I quickly checked his temp thinking it must be pretty high and it was 102.3, I think it must had jumped quickly by the way he was acting. Of course I couldn't go back to sleep until he got the motrin in him and working on that fever as I'm paranoid the boys will have a febrile seizure like Brody did at 6 months. It finally started descending around 4:30 and he went back to sleep in which Brody decided he was ready to wake for the day!!
At the doc Jax was absolutely miserable. The dr checked him over and as soon as he looked into his mouth he could see sores and blisters all along his throat :( He ran a strep and flu test just to be sure but those came back negative. Coxsackie Virus is from the same family as Hand, foot, mouth which Jax has had twice and it's pure hell! This is pretty much the same, several days of high fever along with sores/blisters in the throat :( this is pretty much my worse nightmare as its highly contagious and now Brody is susceptible. Please pray Jax doesn't get strep and B doesn't get this virus!! Jax is pretty much miserable although his fever is down to 99-100. He's not eating except Popsicles and yogurt. And all he wants is for me to rock him, which if you know Jax that is very out of character!

Also, it shouldn't be harmful to me and Landry if I do get it. Like most viruses, I've probably already had it and adults usually don't get it(although that wasn't the case for hand, foot, mouth! That's our luck!)
