Landry: 18 weeks

This week has been great. I'm feeling Landry move around a lot more. The past 2 weeks it has been just at night but now he's big enough where I can feel kicks and movement during the day when I'm busy and not paying attention. I'm still wanting to go to bed as soon as I get home but it's not as bad as the 1st trimester.

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday: Landry looks great and my cervix is still at 4 cm. He looked so big on the screen from just a few weeks ago. My shot hurt like crazy this week but I wasn't sore at all the following days like I was last week. The nurse did say she would have to use a bigger needle this time as it was really hard to get the meds to go in, we were trying to use a smaller needle in hopes that it wouldn't be as sore. So although this week was nice, it won't be that way this Monday :( I'm also up 3 lbs.

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place.
