Hematologist & TSH Levels

Not sure if I spelled that right? I went to the hematologist before we left for Disney and learned a few interesting things, none of which were in my favor, but hey that's how it goes for me.

- First I found out that I also have a Protien S deficiency. It's another clotting disorder. This on top of Factor V adds to my risk of clotting. The doc just said that if and when we want to add to our family I will have to go back on Lovenox and then I will have to have my clotting levels checked every few weeks. I'm so blessed because she said that Dr. B did everything correct in order to keep B and I safe during my pregnancy. She also said that I'm at a higher risk to get severe pre-eclampsia and that I will have to watch out for that as well.

- She also asked about my thyroid because she could feel that it was enlarged. I had just gone in to Dr. B's office to get my levels checked because I've been feeling off and sluggish. So the very next day Dr. B's nurse called to tell me that something was going on with my thyroid and that I needed to go see a specialist(great!) My functioning thyroid is normal meaning I'm not hypo or hyper but my TSH level was through the roof! A normal level is between a 4-6 and my level was a 117! This is obivously alarming and not normal but I cannot get in to see the specialist until Aug. 6th! Usually if your TSH levels are elevated then your functioning thyroid level is also off, but mine is not. Meaning my thyroid is working properly but I'm producing too much thyroid horomone. So we started back on my thyroid meds in hopes to bring down the TSH level and get it under control. But this comes with a risk of lowering my functioning thyroid levels too low. I've done a little research and have found a few things that could be causing this but figured I should just wait until I have further testing done and hope that all it needs is some meds to clear up my levels.

Til next time,
LeAnn

Sorry to hear about the new medical issues. Thankfully the Lovenox kept you and Brody safe!

I hope the specialist can find a solution to your thyroid/TSH issues and you will be feeling more energetic soon!
